Best inside drawing utensils for a toddler?

I like to draw with my 18 month old son, we draw on a daily basis for a couple of months now. I use it as a teaching tools, such as I draw the alphabet and numbers and things such as cats, dogs, flowers, and such and go over them with him. Well he naturally loves to draw his scribbles for me too, which I encourage. Usually we do this outside with chalk.

BUT, as we have had lots of rainy days and winter approaching, we have been doing some indoor art work. Well, I have just been using crayons, and despite laying newspaper on the ground on our work area, I am still left with LOTS of crayon art all over my hardwood floors. He doesn't exactly understand the whole concept on the paper only yet.

SO, what do you draw with around the house around the house with your toddler to minimize messes? Any ideas?

Have you tried the 'color wonders' line? It only shows up on the appropriate paper but comes in finger paints, markers, and crayons.
